PETER FERGUSON
Peter Ferguson – age 41 – Sergeant (49264) 7th Battalion, Royal Fusiliers.
Peter was gamekeeper at Fountainhall, Pencaitland, Ormiston when he enlisted in the the 1st Sportsmen's Battalion of the Royal Fusiliers. He landed with the battalion as Lance Corporal (1156) at Boulogne in November 1915. He was posted to the 7th Battalion in December 1916.
Born 1876 in Gargunnock, Stirlingshire. Son of William and Isabella (Kennedy) Ferguson of Meiklewood Cottage, Gargunnock. Husband of Jessie (Scott) Ferguson of Ormiston Hall, Ormiston who he married in 1903 in Edinburgh.
Missing in Action on 26 February 1917 and named on the Thiepval Memorial to the Missing of the Somme, France. _________________ Ken |
