Blacksmith JAMES EDGAR Royal Navy.
James Edgar – age 23 – Blacksmith's Mate (Clyde Z/1310) H.M.S. "Queen Mary." Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve.
James was employed in a Greenock shipyard when he enlisted in 1914. (D&G Standard 7/6/1916 p.3)
Born 1893 in Dornock, Dumfriesshire.
Son of Thomas (a tailor) and Esther Edgar of Lowtherton, Dornock and of 1 Carnegie Gardens, Port Glasgow, and grandson of Mr Bonner, (a tailor) of Thomas Street, Annan.
Killed in Action/Lost at Sea on 31 May 1916 and named on the Portsmouth Naval Memorial, Hampshire. _________________ Ken |
