The two memorial plaques for the two of Wishaw which are recorded here:

http://warmemscot.s4.bizhat.com/viewtopic.php?t=7144
were located within Wishaw Ex-Servicemen's Club. The club went into liquidation earlier this year and the building has been up for sale, with a sale due to be completed tomorrow (27th June 2018).
I was contacted last week by one of the liquidators, who was concerned about the memorials plaques still being held in the building after the sale had completed. She had contacted North Lanarkshire Museums, but they had been unable to take them due to a lack of storage space.
I agreed that the Scottish Military Research Group would be happy to take them into short-term storage until a suitable location within Wishaw could be found to put them back on public display. I also made contact with the War Memorials Trust to advise them of the situation and they are aware that I was willing to look after them in the short-term.
The two plaques are therefore now in my possession in a safe storage location and I will shortly be contacting various local bodies in order to identify the best way to move forward and to ensure these two plaques are on display for the people of Wishaw in future.
If anyone local to the area can assist with any information or advice which might help, please contact me by Private Message. |
