We know of this seemingly long lost memorial from-
The Scotsman - Monday 21 August 1922
Ayr. — Newton Carpet Works memorial, Ayr, which takes the form of a bowling green with finely equipped pavilion for the workers, was on Saturday afternoon unveiled by General Sir Charles Fergusson, Bart, of Kilkerran , who delivered an address upon playing the game. Provost M'Donald and members of Ayr Town Council took part in the ceremony.
It is unclear if there was any dedicatory plaque, let alone if it had names on, and what happened to that possible plaque.
The exact location or when it was redeveloped are also unclear.
So it is mentioned here for the sake of completeness, rather tahn anything else. |
