A war memorial tablet is pictured in a photo in the above article.
I reckon this memorial was from the West United Free Church in Galashiels.
I believe this as the 'Scotsman' of August 16th 1920 mentions the death of the Rev William Mowat (his memorial stone is pictured in the above article). The very same'Scotsman' mentions the unveiling of a memorial tablet in the same church.
I do not know any details about the second war memorial in the above article. _________________

Thanks Derek, I've tipped off the War Memorials Trust in case they aren't aware.

I have been told that the Old Gala Club are investigating and are looking to secure the memorials. _________________

Derek - as all of the names (bar three) are on the main Gala Memorial, I've been able to cross-check and I have sent a transcription of the names. _________________ Ken |
