Yesterday I visited the Black Watch Museum, Perth to see the recently unveiled Statue of the WW2 piper in Battledress .
The Information board said that the statue was erected to commemorate the thousands of men , Regular army & Territorials who joined the 51st Highland Division . Distinction in WW1 and WW2 to 1967 .
Piper of the Black Watch in WW2 battle dress was the idea of Dr Tom Renouf MBE , Legion d'honour who served in the 5th Black Watch 1944/45 . Sadly he died in 2016 before the statue could be sculpted and cast .
The Sculptor of this statue : Alan Beattie Harriot DA, MRBS ,
Cast :Powder Bronze Factory
I see that the internet has reports on STV and in the media for 22 and 23rd June 2017 reporting the unveiling had taken place .
