Thanks for posting this.
I could just make out the date of death on the video, it is this man.
Name: REID, JAMES
Initials: J
Nationality: United Kingdom
Rank: Private
Regiment/Service: Royal Scots Fusiliers
Unit Text: 1st/5th Bn.
Date of Death: 12/07/1915
Service No: 7547
Casualty Type: Commonwealth War Dead
Grave/Memorial Reference: Panel 72 to 75.
Memorial: HELLES MEMORIAL
It seems like he died in Gallipoli on the 'inglorious' 12th.
I have seen these certificates before and normally I would say that they are not war memorials. But in this case it was framed and placed in his former place of work thus it was intended to be a memorial. I would be interested to hear others views and I would also like to get a decent photo of it and record where it ends up. |

Derek, that is very similar to the one Dan found for me to my great uncle, unfortunatley though mine is not quite in that condition. Reids scroll is a brilliant piece of history, I wonder where it will end up. |

In my view, this is clearly a memorial, under the National Definitions. Unfortunately there is not enough information to raise a record for it, from this film. |
