from 'Bomber Command Losses Volume 7 - Operational Training Units 1940 - 1947'
Wellington 1c from 20 OUT took off from Lossiemouth on 19th January 1942 for a cross country flight and failed to return at its scheduled time. On or about 19th February the police relayed a message to Lossiemouth indicating that the wreckage of an aircraft had been reported in the vicinity of Clunie Water (or Clunie Glen) near Braemar in Aberdeenshire. Three days later, a service party struggled across snow-covered countryside and confirmed that the remains were those of the Wellington. From evidence gathered at the scene it seems likely that the bomber came down at around 1250 hours. All six bodies were recovered and were taken for burial in Dyce old cemetery where four now have special memorials type ‘C’ as their grave markers. The service numbers for the two Australians indicate that they joined the RAAF on the same day and it is further noted that Sgt Milliken had married Mary Patricia Donahoe Milliken from Des Plaines, Illinois.
