I was at an embroidery class in the Session Room at Buchlyvie Parish Church this weekend so............
The church is on the main A811 through the village.
The memorial is inside the church on the wall on the right hand side. It is marble and the inscription reads:
To the Glory of God This Tablet is Erected in Memory of the Young Men of this Church who fell in Action in the Great War 1914-1918
Ronald J McOnie Canadian Scottish
William F Steel Black Watch
Andrew McLaren Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders
William L McIntyre Cameron Highlanders
Alexander McIntyre Black Watch
James Scott Seaforth Highlanders
Charles Gorrie Black Watch
John Johnstone Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders
Archibald McVicar Black Watch
James Harrison Black Watch
George West Royal Scots
James Jaffray Black Watch
Robert Alexander Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders
Their Names Shall be Held in Everlasting Remembrance
Underneath is a "ribbon effect" section with the inscription:
World War
1939 David Duff 1945
William Irvine
The names are also on the civic memorial but this one gives regiment as well. |
