First time I have ever seen this - the CWGC Register has two men named Andrew Fortune who both served in the 2nd KOSB but in different wars.
FORTUNE, ANDREW
Lance Corporal, Service Number 40060, 2nd Bn. King's Own Scottish Borderers.
Died 04/10/1917
TYNE COT MEMORIAL, West-Vlaanderen, Belgium.
FORTUNE, ANDREW
Corporal, Service Number 3190327, 2nd Bn. King's Own Scottish Borderers. Aged 24.
Died 23/01/1944
TAUKKYAN WAR CEMETERY, Myanmar.
After a bit of digging around in census and valuation rolls it turns out that they had the same parents, so were brothers, with the second Andrew born about 3 to 4 years after the death of his name-sake.
They are each named on the WW1 and WW2 memorials in Roxburgh Parish. _________________ Ken |
