Samuel Lynas is named on Lanark War Memorial and on Lanark's Scottish Episcopal Church as serving with the Royal Enniskilling Fusiliers. There is a Pension Record Card on Fold 3 for a Samuel Lynas, 18247 Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers. I don't have access to Fold 3 but the cover page on Ancestry includes reference to Pte Lynas' widow, Sarah Lynas. There are other record cards for 18247 Samuel Lynas but serving with the Royal Irish Fusiliers, one of which shows he was resident in Tandragee, Co Antrim, possibly at the end of his period of service.
A Silver War Badge record for 18247 Samuel Lynas Royal Irish Fusiliers indicates service from 18/2/1915 to 13/4/1918 with discharge due to Sickness (Para B).
The 1915 Valuation Roll indicates a Samuel Lynas living in Lanark.
Try as I might I cannot find a record of his death. He is not on CWGC as far as I can see but may be out of scope. If anyone can find out anything more about him I'd be very grateful! |
