Looking for info on the cause of death for this man named on the Prestonpans War Memorial in East Lothian. Was it due to wounds in action or due to a training accident?
William Archibald Struthers McKerrell – age 27– Lieutenant, 4 Squadron, Royal Air Force and 8th Battalion, Royal Scots.
William was an engineer from Bloemfontein, Orange Free State, South Africa when he married in 1915 in Prestonpans. He was a Lieutenant with the 1/8th Royal Scots in July 1917 and joined the Royal Flying Corps in December 1917. William went to France in March 1918.
