This memorial was moved from Trinity Church to Dryfesdale Parish Church in 1973 when Trinity closed. It is now inside the main Dryfesdale memorial shrine

Three casualties from the three services.
Oddly only David Wightman is named on the Lockerbie War Memorial.
Cameron is on the nearby Lochmaben War Memorial but Dougan is not on any local memorial.
WILLIAM RITCHIE CAMERON.
William Ritchie Cameron – age 32 – Lance Bombardier (1595576) 347 Battery, 105 Light Anti-Aircraft Regiment, Royal Artillery.
William was educated at Lockerbie Academy and was in business with his father as a fruiterer, nurseyman and seedsman before starting his own business in the town. He enlisted in December 1941 and was stationed in the south of England before going to Tunisia where he was killed in an accident. The airfield at Souk el Arba was captured by British paratroops in November 1942 and was used by the RAF. William was buried in Souk el Arba but was re-interred in Medjez-el-Bab in July 1944.
Born 1910 in Applegarth, Dumfriesshire. Son of Alexander and Janet Macdonald (Ritchie) Cameron of Ashgrove Terrace, Lockerbie. Husband of Janet Hope (Winter) Cameron of Edinburgh who he married in 1939 in Dryfesdale. Janet was a nurse at the Lochmaben Hospital.
Died on Active Service on 15 February 1943 and buried in Medjez-el-Bab War Cemetery, Tunisia.
ROBERT NEILL DOUGAN.
Robert Neill Dougan – age 19 – Able Seaman (D/JX 151636) H.M.S. Glorious, Royal Navy.
Robert was educated at Lockerbie Academy before he joined the navy in 1937. He trained at Ipswich before being based at Malta. The aircraft carrier “Glorious” left Malta in April 1940 to take part in the Norwegian campaign and transported RAF aircraft to Norway. During the withdrawl from Norway “Glorious” and her escorting destroyers, HMS Acasta and HMS Ardent, were attacked and sunk by the German battlecruisers Scharnhorst and Gneisenau.
Born 1920 in Gretna as Robert Neill. Son of John and Maria (Neill) Dougan of Hallbank,Tundergarth and of Castlemilktown Cottage, Lockerbie.
Killed in Action/Lost at Sea on 8 June 1940 an named on the Plymouth Naval Memorial, Devon.
DAVID WIGHTMAN.
David Wightman – age 24 – Aircraftman 2nd Class/Air Gunner (903325) 141 Squadron, Fighter Command, Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve.
David was educated at Lockerbie Academy and joined the RAF at the outbreak of war. He had just completed his gunnery training when his aircraft crashed and he and his pilot were killed. Their deaths were registered in Grangemouth and the pilot Sergeant S.F.H. Keene is buried there.
141 Squadron had been formed at RAF Turnhouse near Edinburgh in September 1939 and in April 1940 were equipped with Boulton Paul Defiant two-seat fighters. They were still in training during May and became operational in June 1940.
Born 1915 in Lockerbie, Dryfesdale. Son of David and Elizabeth Ann (Whitelaw) Wightman of Ashgrove, Lockerbie.
Died on Service on 15 May 1940 and buried in Lockerbie (Dryfesdale) Cemetery.
