The Historical Society of Barvas & Brue advise me that there is no war memorial for these two (adjacent) villages, although there is talk of one. No firm plans at present. |

I was told by Barvas & Brue historical society that they have acquired a piece of land near the Church of Scotland in Barvas on which a memorial is to be erected over the next twelve months. They are currently raising funds, and have reached £52k. I would like to ask if anyone has further ideas how they could acquire further funding for their project, from the context of bodies that further such aims. |

Great news Guido. There is a campiagn currently being run to erect a memorial in Neilston. It may be worth contacting them to see what they have done.
That is already a substantial amount of money raised so far. Have they any ideas on on what form the memorial will take and how much they need?
Thanks

The design is pretty much finalised, and I believe they are set to go ahead with the build in pretty short order. I have passed the link to this thread so they know that I've put the question about. |

The Barvas & Brue historical society have passed to me the following listings of men who will be commemorated on the memorial. It will consist of three panels, for Lower Barvas, Upper Barvas and Brue. I shall list each panel separately. |

The memorial has been virtually completed, and the first commemoration will be held on Remembrance Sunday, 13 November 2016. A formal unveiling will take place before the end of the year. |
