Martin's Memorial Church, Kenneth Street, Stornoway
United Free Church unveiled a plaque (Stornoway Gazette) 1921
Moved to Martin's Memorial Church, Kenneth Street, Stornoway in 1929 upon unification.
There is a Second World war plaque as well at front door as well with seven names including Roderick J.Macaskill (LAC RAF) who lived in the Caretaker's flat - father was the Caretaker - I do not have the names but will post when I get them.
Sorry for the layout!

Interesting to see that the High Church's Second World War Memorial was erected only in 2003.

I'm pleased to say I helped a colleague at work on the 2003 project. He is a Deacon in the church and felt it inappropriate to the honour of those lost in WW2 not to have a plaque while there was a prominent WW1 one.
I am afraid to report that of the three Church of Scotland congregations in Stornoway, St Columba's Old Parish Church of Scotland on Lewis Street, does not have a plaque for either war. Yes, of course, this is my church so shame on all of us in the congregation for failing in our duty to those who laid down their lives so that we may worship freely.
I retired a couple of months ago - so one day - soon I hope!
Regards
