Today I visited the Brechin Library and found the following facts :
The Brechin Almanac published each year from some time in the mid 1800s til the 1940s at least cover the various events in and around Brechin for the year
I found a roll of honour printed in the pages of the Brechin Almanac for 1916, 1917 , 1918 and 1919 . It would appear that the 1919 was the best to copy as it should have the previous years casualties in its pages .
The 1919 Brechin Almanac had as did the previous ones going back to 1916 Brechin Almanac listed :
Brechin in Time of War covering home matters relating to the war ,
The Toll of the War listing pics of casualties and obituaries on them , the Roll of Honour of brechin and District , then War Honours for local Men , then the Call to arms : Muster roll of Brechin & District .
The 1919 Brechin Almanac covered 14 pages in the book ( 7 photocopy pages )
---------------------------------------------
At the entrance to the Brechin Library there is a Roll of Honour showing one page of casualties for the Great War and they must change the page daily or weekly . It is not a printed publication with script type of lettering and coloured designs around etc
