Memorial Plaque at City Park, Alexandra Parade.
Stephen Mitchell, grandson of the founder of the business with the same name, is best known for leaving a large bequest to fund the Mitchell Library - there is more information in the post on the library memorial elsewhere on the website.
The business merged with WD & HO Wills in 1901.
The company had premises in St. Andrew's Square and later at Hanson Street to the West of the Imperial Tobacco building. The latter is now the Wasp Factory for arts workers.
