This Great War memorial Roll of Honour, in the form of a cased copper cross with brass name panels, is located within the foyer of Dyce Library, Riverview Drive, Dyce, Aberdeen, AB21 7NF. The case is not original but a faithful reproduction of it. As well as the plaque asking the doors be closed after inspection the original had a bolt to secure them.
It is not listed on the UKNIWM database, although they are now aware of it.
It is known that in the 1960's it was attached to the wall of the newsagents at the corner of Victoria Street/Station Road and it was probably sited there originally.

I guess C.O.E.F. = Canadian Over-seas Expeditionary Force as you find on attestation papers but this is the first time I've seen it on a memorial. _________________ Ken |

Adam - there are all sort of initials on this memorial I don't recognise and which could be added to you list of abbreviations - G.R.G.A. M.A.C. and one which appears quite often, D.A.C. (Davidson, Forsyth x2, Sandison) for example. _________________ Ken |

If someone nearby could revisit this memorial we could do with some images where names are not obscured by a watermark.
I'm not personally in favour of watermarks (I have amended my own images where I had previously put one on), but if you have to use one, could you not obscure the names? That kind of misses the point. |
