I wonder if this was originally in an Indian church, say in the 82nd Punjabi's depot town and moved here after Indian Independence? I've seen a plauqe like this before in an Edinburgh cemetery for a Salvesen family member who died whilst serving in the Indian Army and it looked out of place compared to the other plaques.
CLERK, BEAUCHAMP
Rank: Captain
Date of Death: 11/03/1915
Age: 28
Regiment/Service: 82nd Punjabis
Grave Reference: I. A. 21.
Cemetery: LE TOURET MILITARY CEMETERY, RICHEBOURG-L'AVOUE. France
Additional Information: Son of Hugh Edward Clerk, C.I.E. and Edith Elizabeth Clerk, of Northgate, Beaconsfield, Bucks.
Captain Clerk's father was in the Indian Civil Service and the address above is in England but the Clerk family came from Penicuik.
