Charles Watson Moodie is named on Peebles War Memorial. A short biographical note is provided in the Tweeddale Book of Remembrance: https://digital.nls.uk/rolls-of-honour/archive/100999939
He died on 21 July 1919. The death record states the cause of death: "Vascular Disease. Pulmonary Congestion*. (*History of being gassed while on active service)"
He served with the Royal Engineers reaching the rank of Sergeant, service number 69903 and was awarded the Military Medal. His service papers still exist and give reason for discharge as "Pulmonary ?? [can't decipher]" which was due to military service. Pension Papers also still exist.
I have been unable to trace Sgt Moodie on CWGC (searching Moodie, Moody, Mudie and his service number).
I submitted his case to Terry Denham yesterday. His reply this morning: "He can qualify. His full pension record and his WFA pension ledger state that his TB was due to service within the dates. So he will progress today. The current wait for adjudication is two years."

Good spot Mike
I meant to have a look on the Kirkcaldy WM as that was his "Usual Residence" on the death register entry you sent to me - and he is there in the Royal Engineers section! _________________ Ken |
