Thanks to Mr & Mrs A Goldsmith for photographs.
Not on UKNIWM. (However UKNIWM 48484 for him is in the Guards Chapel, Westminster.) Balcarres Chapel is situated in the grounds of Balcarres House, Colinsburgh, Fife. Grid Ref 474046.
Wording on plaque
"Lieut. General James Lindsay, Eldest son of the Hon. Robert Lindsay. Born 17th April 1791. Served in the Grenadier Guards during the Peninsular War, and in the campaigns of Walcheren and Holland. And afterwards represented the borough of Wigan and the County of Fife in the Imperial Parliament. He died at Genoa 5th December 1856. This monument is erected to his memory by his widow Anne, daughter of Sir Coutts Trotter, Bart, of Westmonville" |
