William Wilson Morton, listed on this memorial was in the same bomber crew as my uncle Sgt C J Kendal. Their Stirling R9247 was shot down on or near Vechta airfield, Germany at 1965 hrs on 17 12/1942 probably by a nightfighter from 1/NJG3 piloted by Hptmn Walter Milius from Vechta airfield. If anyone is interedsted I have a photo of the 5 crew members who flew Wellingtons before converting to Stirlings at which time they were joined by Sgt Morton and F/Sgt Fellows. I would be interested in anyone who has any information or a photo of Sgt Morton. |
