Unfortunately the providers of this forum have now introduced a 5 post / 5 day rule for new members. This means that you cannot post a URL Link and therefore an image until you have posted 5 messages. You must also have been a forum member for 5 days.
I know this will be frustrating for any new members but this restriction is not within the control of the moderators. Hopefully at some point in the future this power will be devolved to the moderators and we will be able to reduce this time limit but until then I’m afraid you will have to be patient.
To speed the process up you may wish to post an introduction when you join which will use up one of your posts. You could also look through some of the topics within the General, Forum News and Other Discussions sections where you may find topics you’d care to add comments to.
Please try and avoid adding spam posts to the forum to make up your 5 posts.

Thank you for explaining the new rule on your site. I want to apologise also I tried to post a message and couldn't as regards the 5 message rule. I rec'd a message telling me the topic was already in existence. I tried to put it on that topic when I got my message, Apologies anyway to all concerned.
I became interested researching the Quintinshill Disaster also having relatives in Scotland and from Scotland on my Irish side. What a well organised site. My dear friend and colleague has a Grt Uncle at Harlebecke Cemetery who was killed the day before the Great War ended. It is a very moving story I will encourage him to take a peek if he hasn't already. He is from Dumfries.
kind regards

Welcome to the forum, as you may have seen we have quite a few posts on the forum on the various memorials to the Gretna Rail Crash.
I'd just like to also say that if you want to post a message without a URL you can go back at a later date and edit your post and add one.
Regards

Forum member Mary Young has discovered that the 5 day rule takes effect from the day of your first post NOT the day you join the forum.

Hello to all, I am finding my feet here and trying not to make any unwitting mistakes .
I am from muir of ord area , must update my file.
There are so many things to learn about the site and the procedures, that I can understand the need for a number of learning submissions.
I look forward to the learning curve and to contribute. |

Welcome to the forum, I've taken the liberty of updating your profile for you by adding Muir of Ord as your location.
Don't be afraid to ask the moderators if you are unsure about anything and I look forward to seeing your posts.

I became interested in the project when I read a piece about David Binnie who was a cousin of my Mother. This enabled me to place him properly within my family and to go on and read an extract of the War Diary of the Highland Light Infantry to see how David died.

The project also identified David Binnie's Father David Dreghorn Binnie. He sent a copy of Ballads and Poems by members of the Glasgow Ballad Club to my Mother in about 1924. It contains his beautiful poem - 'to any father.' |

I would like to post a photcopy of the poem 'to any father.' It relates to 2nd lt David Binnie. Presumably I will be able to do this when I have made my first 5 posts!

I've just checked with our Admin guru and this rule no longer applies. I will remove the references to this rule asap.
