I'm brand-spanking new to this forum and today you've absolutely made my day!!!
I've been searching for my great uncle, Charles John Williams, for AGES. I have a few items (ribbons from medals, an Acton plaque, and pictures) but nothing with reference to regiment/battalion, etc. So I was absolutely thrilled to find his name, rank and battalion on the Bridge of Allan War Memorial pictures that had been posted within this forum!!!
Thank you for taking the time to photograph the Bridge of Allan War Memorial and for bringing me one step closer...

Hello Kelly,
Welcome to the Forum.
Believe it or not, every time someone tells us we've helped to find an ancestor, it makes our day too!
If you'd like to post any pictures of your Great Uncle John or add any personal information about him, it would be a very welcome addition. You can either do this yourself, or by getting in touch with any of the moderators and they could do it for you.
I noticed that we didn't have John's individual information posted - now sorted!!

Thank you for the warm welcome, Anne!
I'm still quite excited about finding Uncle Charlie on the Bridge of Allan War Memorial! With the information obtained from his medal card and the few facts I already knew, I have been able to send away for his death certificate - hopefully t.p.t.b won't have any difficulties finding it!
I've tried searching a bit for his Black Watch papers but I'm not sure who to contact or where to look. I'm sure someone on this forum will know
I'll have a look at the "how to" section for posting photos - I have a great one of Charlie in full uniform, as well as a pic of his Acton Plaque.
Cheers, Kelly |

Have you had a look at the Black Watch website as there is an archivist there at the Home Headquarters at Balhousie Castle Hay Street Perth and have you looked on that same website for the bit that shows Black Watch Forum and go into that ?? |
