Hello Anne,
I just had a look at the photos of Alva Civic Memorial and there's 2 Alfreds - Alfred H. Leckie and Alfred Lloyd - which one is your great uncle?
The following information has been taken from the Commonwealth War Graves Commission Debt of Honour Database and the Scottish National War Memorial Database:
CWGC:
Name: LECKIE, ALFRED HOBBS

Service No: S/9530
Additional information: Son of William and Janet Thomson Leckie, of Alva, Clackmannanshire. Was a soldier in the American Army.
Casualty Type: Commonwealth War Dead
Grave/Memorial Reference: I. E. 12.
Cemetery: BARLIN COMMUNAL CEMETERY EXTENSION
SNWM:
Surname LECKIE

Place of birth Alva Stirlingshire
Other 14th Bn.
SNWM roll THE ARGYLL AND SUTHERLAND HIGHLANDERS

The following may/not be the correct Alfred Lloyd as there's no reference to Alva. (He is the only Alfred Lloyd on the Scottish National War Memorial, albeit he was in an English Regiment.)
CWGC:
Name: LLOYD
Initials: A
Nationality: United Kingdom
Rank: Private
Regiment/Service: Queen's Own (Royal West Kent Regiment)
Unit Text: 7th Bn.
Secondary Regiment: Royal Engineers
Secondary Unit Text: attd. 183rd Coy.
Age: 24
Date of Death: 20/07/1917
Service No: 1826
Additional information: Son of George Ambrose Lloyd, and the late Cassandra Ann, his wife.
Casualty Type: Commonwealth War Dead
Grave/Memorial Reference: I. E. 15.
Cemetery: CANADA FARM CEMETERY
SNWM:
Surname LLOYD
Firstname Alfred
Service Number G/1826
Date Death 20/07/1917
Decoration
Place of birth Hanley Staffs
Other 7th Bn.
SNWM roll SCOTTISH CASUALTIES EXTRACTED FROM ENGLISH REGIMENTS
Rank Pte
Theatre of death F.& F.
Hope the above helps.
