THE HONOURED DEAD
IN DEATH THEY WERE NOT DIVIDED
ST. MARK’S MEMORIAL TABLET UNVEILED
The congregation of St. Mark’s Church yesterday paid solemn tribute to those members who laid down their lives in the Great War, when a memorial tablet, bearing the names of thirteen men, was unveiled and dedicated by the Rev. R. H. Dunlop, Home Mission Deputy, Edinburgh.
Inscription;
“To the glory of God and in everlasting memory of the members of this congregation who sacrificed their lives in the Great War, 1914-1919”.
“2nd Lieut. Rev. R. S. Barclay, 3rd Royal Scots; Signaller David C. Band, 2nd South Staffords.; Sergeant Hector Duncan, 9th Black Watch; Corporal David Duncan, 8th Black Watch; Private David Gow, 8th Black Watch; Sergeant John S. Hutton, 1/6th Black Watch; Private Alexander Kirk, 1/6th Black Watch; Private Donald Kirk, 1/6th Black Watch; A.B.S. Stewart Malcolm, R.N.D.; Segreant George M’Inroy, 14th A. and S. Highlanders; Corporal William M’Pherson, 8th Black Watch; Private James Thomson, 2nd Black Watch; Private David White, Scots Greys”. |

St. Mark's was demolished and, I believe, united with the church in Letham. Letham itself was demolished a few years ago and rebuilt. Enquiry with church reveals there are no memorials within the new building but would not say if there had been memorials. |

At least the names are recorded.
If it is was a tablet was it made of marble? If so it may have been less moveable than brass or wood. Maybe bronze though so we'll not give up hope.
