I'm going to the David Livingstone Centre in Blantyre this Saturday. Not for the 'Wildflower Wander' (which I'm sure will be lovely if the weather holds) but to present a talk on Lanarkshire War Memorials.
It is part of the Lanarkshire Family History Society's Military and Family History Day.
Here is the NTS's page with details of where it is.
http://www.nts.org.uk/Events/David-Livingstone-Centre/Military-Family-History-Day/
And here is a detailed list of what is happening on the day thanks to Chris Paton's Blog
http://britishgenes.blogspot.co.uk/2012/05/military-and-family-history-day.html
Note there is a £3 fee to attend the talks.
My talk is based around a Powerpoint presentation and will last about 50 mins (plus a Q& A session afterwars). It will cover:
* Pre-1914 war memorials in Scotland
* 1914-1918 Lanarkshire civic, church, school, unit, club memorials and memorials to individuals.
* Blantyre's war memorial
* 1939-45 and Post-45 Lanarkshire war memorials
* New war memorials in Lanarkshire and recent additions to existing memorials
Hopefully I'll see some SWMP members there. David will also be there and if you see us come and say hello.
Thanks

Regret I cannot be there, I will be on the way to Belgium for a WW1 battlefield tour with pupils from the school where I work.
