Location: Stairwell, entrance hall, Flora Stevenson Primary School, Comely Bank Road, Edinburgh.
There is a wooden war memorial plaque in the entrance hall to this school. It lists 38 names from the Second World War.
I will post the photographs later.

The photographs are not as clear as I'd hoped. I will get the names transcribed.

I've taken the next bit from another thread where Tonym listed nurses lost on the SS. Khedive Ismail
Tonym wrote: | A casualty of the sinking of the SS. Khedive Ismail that was en-route from Mombasa, East Africa to Colombo, Ceylon(Sri Lanka). The third worst shipping disaster of WW2.
She was hit by two torpedoes fired by the Japanese submarine I-27. She is reported to have sunk within two minutes taking 1,297 of the ship's 1,511 complement with her.
The casualties included 44 Queen Alexandra's Sisters - 7 East African Military Nurses - 17 Wrens and 8 Women's Territorial Service (East Africa).
The Khedive Ismail was the 14th victim of Captain Toshiaki Fukumura's submarine but his luck ran out three hours later when his sub was blown in half by a torpedo from HMS Petard with no survivors.
The above details extracted from "Passage to Destiny" by Brian James Crabb

Is this the same building that was used as a Military Hospital in WW1? _________________ Ken |

Yes,its the same building. Its quite close to the main military hospital in Edinburgh in WW1 -Craigleith (nowadays the Western General). It was built 1899-1900 and so would be a reasonably modern building in 1914.
