Now that we have been running for nearly two years there is a little of bit of forum administration to be done.
For example there are some threads out there where we need photographs. We may not have photographs of the name panels or even of the memorial itself. We may need up to date photographs as well.
Other threads might not have a location, Ordnance Survey reference or a UKNIWM entry.
We will also start adding unveiling details so if they haven’t been posted we’ll list them here.
There will probably be other things needing some attention which I haven’t thought of but will be listed here too.
We will start making up a list here covering all this area’s memorials, civic, church, regimental etc. If we come across something that will need actioned the Mods. can add it to this list. If you see something that needs updated please post in this thread and we can update the list. |

Confirmation for one of these memorials
‘The Scotsman’ - Wednesday, 3rd August 1921, page 8
Kincardine in Menteith
In presence of a crowded congregation, a beautiful two-light window was unveiled and dedicated to the memory of the nine men of the parish who fell in the war. The memorial was unveiled by Sir A. Kay Muir Bart, of Blair Drummond, while the service of dedication was conducted by the minister of the parish, the Rev. George N. Leslie. The window is from the studio of Mr James Ballantine, F.S.A.Scot, Edinburgh. |

St. John's School still exists in Alloa but is no longer an Episcopal school and I think it may have moved so I don't know if it is still has its war memorial table.
'The Scotsman' - Monday, 11th April 1921, page 5
Alloa
On Saturday afternoon the Countess of Mar and Kellie unveiled a war memorial in the hall of St. John's Episcopal School. In the form of a five panelled massive oak tablet, ornamented by carvings of St Andrew's Cross encircling the Thistle and the Rose and the Shamrock, the memorial contains the names of 60 men. Bailie A. J. Mullan, J.P., Chairman of the County Education Authority, presided at the ceremony, and was accompanied by Lady Mar, the Earl of Mar and Kellie K.T.; Colonel Sir William Thomson, K.C.M.G., C.B., M.C.; Captain A. P. Moir, and Mr B. M. Allardyce, M.C., Executive Education Officer for the county. After the unveiling ceremony, short addresses were delivered by the Chairman, Colonel Sir W. Thomson, Lady Mar, and Lord Mar. The memorial, which was subscribed for by former pupils of St John's School, was formally handed over, to the school by Mr J. Bremner, chairman of the Memorial Committee, and the gift was accepted by the headmaster, Mr S. S. Perry. |

The Queen Victoria School in Dunblane was identified a few years ago as a Scottish national Boer War Memorial but I can't see it on the forum so I am adding it to the 'To Do' list.
