Just visited St Ninian's Episcopal church in Castle Douglas - it is chock full of memorials. Picked up an excellent little booklet (priced £1) - Title "St Ninian's Episcopal Church, Castle Douglas, Remembered with Honour, 1914-1918 1939-1945". The booklet has details of the first and second war memorials, plus the 5 original wooden grave-crosses in the church and a full biography of those who died (at least a full A5 page of each) - 11 Great War names and 3 from WW2. It was written by L J Scaborough (a church member) in November 2000. |

If you're going back can you pick me up a copy? I like getting booklets like this. |

It might be a few weeks, but will do. I actually took the last one in the church otherwise I would have picked up a couple 'on-spec'. |
