Located within Dundee Parish Church (St. Mary's). This is a fantastic memorial. Lovely craftsmanship externally with a drop down front revealing steel sheets inscribed with the names of 917 men who fell in the Great War. This would have been a very time consuming job I would imagine.

Had a go at the plates, not easy, but gives an impression of the work involved.

That's fantastic, I've never seen a memorial like that. |

Some have their date of death inscribed but all have their rank and number included. |

What an unusual roll. Never seen one on metal before.

It seems to be just the officers who have the date of death listed. But then they didn't have numbers so there was space for a date against their names.

I am in the process of transcribing the names. This is quite time consuming and is progressed in between a multitude of other work I am doing at the moment. |

Hows the transcribing going, if you want a hand let me know.
If you're finished I wouldn't mind a copy
This is ideal for a forum project actually, to make into a roll of honour for downloading.
Cheers,
Derek. |
