This plaque was originally located above a hospital bed in Greenock Royal Infirmary.
It was paid for by the families of the two men named on the plaque. The two were boyhood friends who enlisted on the same day and were killed on the same day.

Additional Information: Son of the Rev. Charles Allan, M.A., and Margaret Allan, of Duneira, Greenock. A Medical Student.
Hugh Macpherson is commemorated on a grave in Greenock Cemetery.
The information panel from the Inverclyde Great War exhibition gives a little more information, although it doesn't confirm which hospital the bed was located in:
