A little more on Gunner Todd from the Wigtownshire Free Press (13/9/1917): Mrs Todd, Cairnhandy (Ardwell) has received word that her husband, Gunner S Todd, Canadian Garrison Artillery, died from wounds received in action at No 7 Casualty Clearing Station in France on August 9. Gunner Todd was engaged in agricultural work in USA when war broke out, and shortly afterwards joined the Canadian Expeditionary Force.
The article also includes a photograph of Gunner Todd.
The following week's edition reported that his brother, Gunner Crawford Todd, Cape Garrison Artillery, was killed on the same day.
