This memorial stands within the ruins of Dryburgh Abbey.
It was commissioned by all ranks of the Royal Horse Guards 7th Hussars & 17th Lancers.
It was most probably erected here, near to Douglas Haig's grave as he was Colonel of the regiment.
Interesting to note that it is in the style of a CWGC Memorial Cross:

There is, in my opinion, an interesting thread regarding Haig's gravestone on the Great War Forum _________________ Remembering my ggf, Pte Thomas Roberts, 10 SR, killed 25 Sep 15 at Loos.
Also remembering Flt Lt Al Squires and CXX/3 killed 2 Sep 06 in Afghanistan. |
